Never wait to be a certain weight to start enjoying clothes and never reject anything thinking it will not suit your shape. Try it on—you may be surprised.

Fashion has always been taken to mean universal.
However, while this sentiment may be true, choosing the best sartorial garments for you and looking great in it can be quite challenging. Women who strongly advocate loving our bodies regardless of what shape we are have always presented the idea that women of whatever size would look good anything. However, there is a significant difference between just looking good and feeling and looking good in what you wear. The latter implies that because you are comfortable with what you wear, you can rock it with confidence and as the millennials would say, slay. Remember, women are not all necessarily built the same across our whole bodies so there will inevitably be clothes that would look better on you than anyone else and vice versa.
However, this does not mean to say that you should simply forget about your affinity for fashion and penchant for stylish things when you are a certain size. However, you do need to have a workable wardrobe filled with these staples—whether they may be wholesale urban clothing or retail—to ensure you always stay on top of the fashion game. You do not have to constrain yourself to the matronly looking clothes and baggy dresses, just be sure to have these wardrobe staples:
1) A good pair of jeans
You do not have to keep on settling on leggings for the rest of your life as you can still rock with a good pair of jeans. The trick is to find the perfect one for you. Although that may prove to be more of a challenge than anything else, it can be done. The trick is to find something more tailored if you carry your weight on your hips and thighs. Skinny jeans are fine so long as they would balance out the leg. However, remember not to go for super skinny jeans as they can be difficult to pull off at times. Needless to say, they require a bit of an effort to put on as well.
2) Sexy Underwear
Sexy underwear is a must for every woman—regardless of whether you are plus-sized or not. After all, racy undies should be for everyone and should not be exclusive to ramp lingerie models. Sexy lingerie has a way of boosting your confidence—even more than a two-piece will. However, make sure you pick out the right one that does wonders to your figure. This includes buying the right bra that fits! Complete the set by going for knickers that slim your waist by choosing a pair with a low leg and high waist.
3) A statement accessory
Give your sartorial ensemble a bit of a personality by adorning it with statement jewelry. One thing you should be able to do that small-framed woman cannot is wearing big and bold accessories. Smaller women tend to steer clear from these types of accessories as it tends to overwhelm their frame, but you should be able to pull it off just fine. Go bold and be daring by going for the chunky looking necklace or even a huge pair of earrings to finish up your look. Studs and small necklaces tend to be unnoticed so when choosing an accessory, opt to go big and bold.
4) A flattering pencil skirt
So many plus-sized women avoid this type of skirt like the plague when they really should not. Pencil skirts have a way of accentuating your curves in such a way that no other skirts can. If you are worried about your big thighs, do not. When executed properly, it can really flatter your body and silhouette. If you are rather big on your bottom half, choose a solid color—one that is preferably darker and goes for a lighter top. However, if you are slimmer waist down, then choose a more daring pattern for a more curved effect.
5) Confidence
Although not exactly a fashion item per se, confidence is key when it comes to rocking your sartorial ensembles. No matter how well-executed an outfit is, it does nothing when it is worn without confidence. So own your ensembles, and wear them proudly.
